I’m Giving Away Me. 15 Hours of Me. Interested?
First of all. Welcome! It’s amazing to finally be here (and amazing to have you here with me).
In conjunction with FINALLY launching MattChevy.com – I’m giving one lucky person the opportunity to “use me” for whatever they need. Call it a “slave for the day”, call it “BFF’s with Matt Cheuvront for a weekend”, or just call it “awesome” – I’m yours (well ONE of yours) for FIFTEEN (15) hours. Some examples of things I could be used for:

As you know very well, I’ve been toying with the idea of redesigning my blog, moving it officially to wordpress since I already have hosting and am not really optimizing it. You also know that I work for a start-up and am not rollin in the dough hence the 15 hours of free Matt Chevy time would REALLY come in handy. Therefore, I see no better candidate for this giveaway!! Plus you can say you had a client from France. Don’t you want to take Matt Chevy international?

I want to use you for my own selfish reasons (use your imagination here), but in all honesty, I know exactly how I would most value your time and energy:
You see, about a year ago, I created this blog for my girlfriend: http://inourcloset.com/. I spent some hard work on it (you can tell I’m not a developer or a designer), and I feel I was able to accomplish a decent site that my girlfriend can use.
However, she is now going to take modeling and fashion more seriously, and I would LOVE for her to have a completely new site with an awesome design that is completely optimized for the search engines.

Hey Matt,
I’m following your blof LWP for a few months now, got my RSS set up so I don’t miss a thing. It’s inspired me a lot to get cracking and start my own business too (I’m doing wine tastings). Check out my site http://www.arthurmeijer.com! It’s in Dutch, so you’ll probably won’t understand a single word of it. But it’s clear this site needs a little upgrade, or a big one, to be honest. I’m happy with the functionalities WordPress offers, but I’m just not that a designer. I know my wines and tend to let other people do what their strengths are. So, your 15 hours will be filled with upgrading my site: the looks, SEO and a bit of WordPress tips… Plenty of work I guess.

1. Training me to be a wordpress ninja. I know the basic, setting up hosts etc. But I want to know more. In particular, customisation of Thesis theme. I love the theme and I love your custom design. I’m spending too much time on doing by learning i.e. customising while Googling. When you train me, I hope you can point me to the right direction to customise a Thesis-powered site. Hiyah!
2. Unloading your community management expertise to me.
3. Mini-mentoring me on being a freelancer. I mean, how to market properly, how to get inside the customers’ head, avoiding pitfalls and mistakes etc. I have a very vague ideas on this but might need a little push.
4. Answering my question: can I get more hours from you?

As to “using” you( I’m keeping all fingers crossed) I’ve got a concept and name for a blog on Wordpress and have been researching content. I have this laundry list of WordPress stuff I need done… tweaking themes and that sort of thing. But I wouldn’t want to make you just do it — I’d love to have someone explain how to do each task. I haven’t been able to devote time to figuring all of it out myself. I’m pretty sure that showing me how to do each of these things will more than eat up 15 hourse.
It’s Chevy time! I value social media because it lets me listen to others more and help them where I can. My site wasn’t built with SM in mind and needs some changes to better integrate social media and organize the content for better readability. I also have a games site integrated with my main site because the site has been around since ’95. Should the two be separated out or remain as is? So 15 hours: revise design to better incorporate SM and reflect good design and usability practices, improve WP install with plug-ins and anything else to run smoothly, strategize with best way to incorporate games site and implement. Well, I’m just starting a new website for a project myself, a role-playing game, and one that will fund a ngo working for at-risk children in Perm, Russia. And I suck as an entrepeneur, so any help will be much welcome.

I’d agree with the others here. I’m currently on Wordpress.com and thinking about a unique design for my blog. I’m wanting to aggressively begin working on a freelance writing gig to supplement my job as a church pastor. I need help understanding it all! *G*

Basically, customize my Atahualpa Wordpress homepage — it might take all 15 hours to build a horrific table — I’ve only found 2 webpages that even begin to try to solve this problem of getting a dynamic multipost magazine-style homepage out of this theme — or you’ll convince me to switch over my somewhat new group blog expat+HAREM, the global niche to something more like Thesis.
Goal is to get this site working like a true-blue neoculture hub, a Huffington Post for global citizens. Can you do it?
I’d get jenmccoy.com relaunched with a professional design and I’d actually pull out the scanner under my bed and get a real portfolio up on the web to build my freelance workload. Essentially, I’d get the “other part of me” up like you just did. I need to do it at some point, but it’d be much easier to have someone else slave away so I don’t have to spend the time building the site to my full capacity to alleviate costs like I did with workinonaramp. What a brilliant idea! I’d love an extra 15 hours of time… and to have 15 hours of expert time would be even better. I’d ask you to revamp my tired blog design. It needs a bit of loving desperately, and I’m just not finding the time.

If you were to give me 15 hours of help, I’d use it to help out the charity that I’m currently working with: Health Assist TN. They are looking to get a new look for HealthAssistTN.org including a new ‘One Great Day’ fundraising page. You can see that their site needs a lot of updating but they have no web designer on staff and they are losing 27% of their budget funding within the first half of 2010. So they need help with igniting their fundraising with new branding.

In all seriousness, from one young professional to another, I’d like to pick your brain. You’ve accomplished a lot and I want to know how you’ve done it from picking up and moving to a big city, starting an awesomely successful blog and having a personal life (because those are all things I want, too).
I’m not really sure we can do that for 15 hours, so somewhere in the mix, I’d definitely like to learn more about social media analytics, blogging and SEO.
Oh, and daily “You’re awesome” emails would be great, too. My mom stopped doing that when I was 8. =)

Boy oh boy… I’m more excited about winning 15 hours of your time than about my mini-vacay next week…
As you know, I’m “in between” 9 to 5 gigs right now. (Matt, you remember the really crappy situation, right?) Of course as soon as I became unemployed, I started looking for something new- the really GREAT gig. I decided that step 1 to finding that awesome new job is to start a blog…. well, weeks and weeks later- here I sit, mostly blog-less (and job-less). I started a wordpress account, and uploaded a picture of myself… and now, trying to move forward, I find myself panicking everytime I look through blog themes, color scheme chooser websites, customizable headers and other *important* blog-related items. I have a million things to say, and without a blog I’m forced to babble to anyone that will listen (seriously, I do this) all day. I need your brilliant expertise to brand me (essentially) – help with my blog design (er- finish setting it up?), teach me to be a wordpress ninja, pimp out my twitter background, SEO me up, teach me LOTS of other Pantsless Wisdom things and send me “tips to be awesome like me” emails. (I’m also open to you giving me really, really good reasons to move to Chicago.) I know that seems like a lot- but I promise it’s not. I have the ideas- I seem to just not get how to execute them correctly (or to my liking), which is why I need your brilliance.

As for what I’m planning to do with you once I win you, you have already covered the first five items. I don’t need you for Skype coffee, but you will serve other uses. So we’ll start by getting these things off of my to-do list:
# Whip up a custom, “Slap Ya Mama” blog/web design — This is good because I need a portfolio page too.
# Rock out my Twitter background & pimp out my Facebook fan page — I am the visual equivalent of tone-deaf, so this would be helpful.

# Teach me how to be a Wordpress ninja! — I have the mask and a sword already, so I’m ready for this!
You are probably a bit better than me at these things, so it shouldn’t take you more than about 3 hours, unless we get carried away with the ninja throwing-star games. The remaining 12 hours is where we will have the most fun.
Once my laundry is done*, which shouldn’t take more than another half-hour of my prize, we can go sailing. It’s really a lot of hard work at times, so it will be nice to just kick back on deck while you deal with all the jibbing and tacking nonsesne that takes all the fun out of an otherwise relaxing day on the water.
*–We won’t count waiting for the spin-cycle as credited against my winnings. You can throw pitches for me during that time. I like hitting — not so much chasing all the balls. I’m pretty lazy, so that will likely get tiring fast. I can let you spend some time hitting, but you’ll have to bring a friend to throw pitches, and you can’t count this against my 15 hours.
Finally, I have a stack of books that need reading. You seem fairly intelligent, so I was hoping you are a fast reader and can get through them for me. I’ll need short summaries of each. You don’t need to write them out, just have a conversation and bottom-line them for me. You don’t have to remember all the dedications and glossary sections, of course. But I may require a few slides with the main points.
I’m really looking forward to our time together (I hope you do windows!), and you need not fear: I may make a lot of “Deliverance” references when you’re around, but I’m mostly just joking.

I have, sadly, been trying to start a blog/site for well over a year now, and because I have so little time (not to mention a knack for procrastination on personal projects) I haven’t been able to. I finally have a concept (not quite fully formed however), a couple wireframes of what I’m thinking about doing, and even the beginnings of a logo. What I need is your time, your smart brain and a kick in the ass. Oh, and some Wordpress skills. Also, an hour of that time would go to that cup of coffee we’ve been talking about for 5 months!

This is a great giveaway idea. Congratulations on launching the new site, it looks great. I can think of so many things I would do with 15 hours of your time. As a blog manager there are so many small issues that I have to deal with on an almost daily basis. Becoming a Wordpress pro would greatly alleviate a lot of the headaches I deal with that prevent me from focusing on the things that really matter such as forming relationships, providing content, and generally progressing my business plan. LWP has been a great resource and form of inspiration. Thanks for this opportunity.

Very happy to see you doing big things even after getting laid off. Mattchevy.com looks to be a great service and I’m sure it will be a success.
With that said, I NEED YOUR HELP. I can’t afford to pay you or anyone else for that matter. 15 free hours of your time would be like gold to me and my blog.
I know people that have the skills that can help me, but everyone is always busy, (hell I work for m2volt, we make and redesign website, as of right now) and this offer seems like a great way to get your great services. With the end goal of being self-sufficient enough by learning from you the basic core stuff. I have talked to you by email a few times asking for your advice about self-hosting a blog and such things. Well I finally did it. But there is room for design improvements. I good on content. The technical stuff is what I need help with.
For my blog I would love to get a professional design. Included in that would be a cool logo and icon, color scheme, the best plugins, and SEO optimization. I’m sure I could use your 15 hours to get a killer blog and be able to maintain it well there after. The bottom line is I want to be a Wordpress ninja in the making.
In return for your services I would be a devote Mattchevy.com follower and preacher. I will reference you to everybody I know looking for website help. I’ll retweet your mattchevy.com tweets and talk about you on facebook. What you are doing with giving 15 free hours away is also something that is relate to a post I’m working on. If I had 15 hours, I’d have you pimp my blog ride. I’m close to launching my new blog. I’ve got plenty of ideas and a backlog of content, but I lack the creativity and knowledge to do it right. You’d make my blog into the Cadillac of the industry and help me drive traffic to the site so I can impact as many people in a positive way as possible. Of course, I’d take you along for the ride and do whatever I can to promote you and your business.

You've probably already figured out that I'm the one who shot you the email after the twitter request, so my answer's probably a tad obvious! That said, anyway, here you go: I would absolutely love it if I could borrow you for those fifteen hours to most likely redesign my blog (seeing as I am completely lacking in [insert proper technical term] knowledge), and moving it over to wordpress. As a student, I'm definitely rather broke so this would defintely be an opportunity to spice up my online presence without emptying my non-existant funds. As I said in my email, I'm interested in making my blog criminal-justice-centric but with some personality infused in it. Another thing that would be fabulous is to help me create an online portfolio through wordpress or another free host to make myself known to prospective employers. I'm looking at this right now as am currently vying for co-op/internships and I would so appreciate your input and expertise!

What an awesome giveaway!! If I won 15 hours of your time I’d finally buy my own domain name and use some of your expertise to help me design a cool site – maybe on a Thesis theme or something? I was laid off in June 209 and one of my 2010 goals was to create a professional site to help me showcase my skills. It’s really important to me because my last job was working in an HR dept thus I can’t use any of my 3 years work (ahem my first “real” job) in my portfolio which means I don’t have much else but an internship four years ago to showcase.

If you were my slave for a day, I’d like to brainstorm with you ideas on how to spread the word about Fellowstream.com. It’s an online project management tool that my husband and I are working on in our spare time. It’s one of those “we-hope-it-will-replace-our-day-jobs” type of things. The site just launched in January, and I have a decent Twitter following, but I’d love your advice on other ways to spread the word, but more importantly, create a plan of feedback between users of our tool and improving the overall appeal of Fellowstream.

I just came across your site a few days ago, so I’m not sure I’m the most worthy person around, but I’m giving it a shot anyway
I’ve been a professional programmer for a few years (I’m 24), but it was always embedded programming (i.e., nothing to do with the web). I left my job about half a year ago to finish my University degree, and am trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. Mostly, I’m trying to create some kind of start up that will get me some decent cash, and will hopefully even make this world a better place.
What I’d do with a few hours of your time would probably be to try and learn from you: obviously, you have a lot of the skills that I’ve never learned yet, even though I’m trying. When moving to the world of web programming, suddenly there’s so much you have to know, from SEO to web design to a hundred other things.
Things like programming are not a problem for me, but things like design and copywriting are definitely not my strengths right now. But with your help, maybe one day I’ll get those down too.
So with 15 hours of your time, I’d like for you to teach me the skills I need but don’t have, that will take me from just a guy who can code pretty decently, to someone who can actually create a real, nice looking website.

And with the leftover time maybe have you do some laundry.
I would parade you around my new office as my prize. Then I would make you switch my blog from blogger to Wordpress for me, while simultaneously juggling (plastic) plates.

Woah, can’t believe I almost missed this. At the moment I am torn between two ideas of what I would do if I had you for 15 hours. The blogger in me would want a lovely new design using Thesis (and I would TOTALLY use your aff link, so if you pick me, you get a kickback too! Hint, hint!) so that my site looks as great as it (hopefully) reads. I love your unique design style that oozes sophistication, class and awesomeness. [Have I done enough ass kissing yet, Matt?]
On the flip side, I’m quite stuck on the idea of launching MattChevyStrips.com and have you spend 15 hours on webcam performing a couple of strips to classic, modern, and very slutty, pop anthems. Think Beyonce… “If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it.” If I went with this option, a bowtie would almost definitely be compulsory too.
Either way, if I win, I’m sure you’ll rock it.

Hmmm…well, according to Mapquest, it would take you precisely 12 hours and 29 minutes to drive from Chicago to Philadelphia, which would have been my first pick. But then I suppose that’d only leave you with 2.5 hours to get back. Oh, logistics!
However, if I drove to meet you halfway (wait, was this song meant to be for us? http://popup.lala.com/popup/432627054054090478) then essentially it’d only be 6 hours one way, and then 6 hours back, which would leave me with three hours to get you drunk. *Evil smirk*
Realistically, though? I’d make you do a site review and fix anything and everything you thought was LAME, and maybe teach me how to do some fun web-ish things. Teach a man to fish? Say whatttttt? :p And during the teaching sessions we’d totally be video Skyping and downing Miller Lites. Because it’s my 15 hours. And that’s totally what I’d want. I have been following you on twitter after Gini Dietrich turned me on to you, and I love your style. I thought of you immediately when i saw the dockers superbowl ad. Great idea to share your services for 15 hours, what a gift for those of us who could use it.
Since i have just started my own business after 12 years of practice, i want you to slave for me! … shackled to the idea that patient/doctor/community relationships have suffered in recent times, and it is my belief that social media is the new incarnation of the country doctor who used to make housecalls – one that people trusted and knew more genuinely. I want you to help me create a blog/website that helps me represent that new doctor, that new social media modern incarnation of the trusted country doctor. How great will that be for a city like Evanston (and Chicago)?! I am going to do this, and I think with your help it would be phenomenal.
